Basic Information

Bernie Baxter Closed for 2019 Due to Road Work

Dear Friends and Supporters,

It is with great heartbreak that we are forced to announce that Bernie Baxter will not be able to open for the 2019 season.

We have been hard at work on the haunt for several months and have come a very long way with the build. However, road work ongoing in our neighborhood and, more specifically, on our street, means that we can not guarantee a safe place for our over 1,000 visitors, including 100s of children.

As recently as July we were told by the city that the work on our road would be completed by the end of September. However, as September wore on and that became clearly not possible, we wrote back and learned that the end date has been pushed back to past Halloween, leaving us with a street that can neither handle the traffic nor be a safe place for hundreds of visitors.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have opted to close for the season. However, as long as the construction is done in time, we will be open in 2020 and look forward to seeing you then!

In the meantime, please take a moment to follow us on Facebook as we will be posting regular updates there. Also, if you’re interested in volunteering for the haunt for 2020, please let us know via our volunteer form.

Thank you very much for your support and understanding!

Previous Year’s Information

Bernie Baxter’s Traveling Sideshow is a small neighborhood haunt that is also New Orleans’ oldest haunted attraction. Since 2005 we’ve been scaring the city into a stupor and this year will be no exception.

Planning on stopping by? Here’s what you need to know…

When

October 26 (Friday), 27 (Saturday) and 31 (Halloween). Doors open at 7 PM and stay open until 10 PM or until the last visitor leaves.

However, our yard display is up for the entire month of October so feel free to drive by after dusk to see what ghouls are guarding the house this year!
